TWIS # 15 Milestone

Kasheem, Andy & I building...
This is it! I've enjoyed myself this school year in science & I've grown as well but this is the last "This week in science" this time we did the marshmallow challenge for the third time this year. I wasn't assigned to the same group because of an issue. It was pretty interesting working with the defending champions group. It was more fun this time but different. We did one try without talking to our group about anything, just staying shut the whole time and the second time with communications. My group was fun even though we did not win but we came up with creative ideas. None of them worked out but at least we had fun. This week we also made a video script to introduce ourselves to our tenth grade teachers. We went to the roof, picked our spot and then lights, camera, action! We answered questions like- What are name is? Have you grown in science this year? & so on..It was interesting to see other people's work and how they changed and improved from the beginning of the year. The week finished by uploading it to our blogger as you can see under, and google docs.
The classes results, my group was the architects
This week in science I learned that I work better in groups. I learned that groups shows you how to divide ideas and share them. Sometimes you have to go with another persons idea and trust them. My group would not focus sometimes, especially when we did the silent marshmallow challenge but you have to learn to put up with those kind of things. It all depends on group member mostly. Some groups were more creative than others and I learned that i should go for the highest achievement (GO BIG OR GO HOME). I learned how to make a video script better. It was way harder before. I didn't know nobody, I didn't know what to say how to react or anything. This time I showed more emotion and just went with my gut feeling. I learned from Richie that it doesn't have to be perfect, you could show humor you don't all serious all the time. We ended with uploading our video to Google Drive & our Blogs.

This Week In Science #13

If we were to leave these spider habitat tanks sealed but removed all of the plants, what would happen? And why?
This is the Carbon-Oxygen Cycle
If we leave the spiders habitat tanks sealed but removed all of the plants, then there would be no Oxygen (O2) flowing in the Carbon (CO2)-Oxygen Cycle. So that means that the spiders wont be able to survive. Green plants release Oxygen and Glucose to the spiders and the spiders release Carbon Dioxide to the plants and the plants take in water from the ground and it's a continuous cycle.

TWIS #9

This week in science we dissected Fogs, Mice, Perch's and Skates. It was very disgusting. My group dissected a Frog and a Mouse. The frog was pretty easy to dissect because its skin is very thin. The mouse was harder because it had like a lot of water inside of it and we didn't want it to explode or squirt. The skin was thick and I had to make a hole in its stomach with a pin so then we could poke the scissors in and cut it open. It wasn't pregnant like we thought it was. We also drew pictures of the animals and took pictures of them and put it on Google Docs.
This week in science, I learned how to Dissect Frogs and Mice and other teams dissected Perch's and Skates. I learned what is inside of all these animals that we dissected, like on the picture below. It shows the insides of a Rat labeled. We also learned that Mice and Frogs are not the same in a few things.

This is an Abdominal view of the Rat

TWIS #8

In these pictures the Side, Proximal, Dorsal and Ventral View are shown.  This is a crawfish that we dissected. In the Side view the claw is labeled. They use their claws to hunt for food and for protection. In the Proximal view the eyes that the crawfish use to see are labeled. The Antennas are labeled in the Dorsal view of the crawfish. The uropod is shown on the Ventral view.
TWIS, I learned how to Dissect animals. I learned what is inside of all these animals that we dissected. David gave us instructions and we followed them. Also I learned anatomy directional terms. Dorsal, Ventral and Proximal are just some of them. We learned how to label pictures on the mac laptops.
